To excel in this role as a Mechanical Engineer with manual machining experience, the following skillset and qualifications are required: Mechanical Engineering Expertise: A strong background in mechanical engineering with a deep understanding of machine design, operation principles, and maintenance procedures. Water industry knowledge is desirable but not essential. Manual Machining Experience: Proficiency in manual machining techniques such as milling, turning, grinding, and drilling, with hands-on experience in operating manual machines. Machine Shop Knowledge: Knowledge of machine shop processes, tooling selection, and shop safety protocols to ensure efficient and safe operations. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to troubleshoot technical issues, evaluate manufacturing challenges, and implement effective solutions to optimise production processes. Project Management Skills: Desirable but not essential - Experience in managing projects, coordinating resources, and adhering to deadlines to drive the successful implementation of machining projects. Communication and Collaboration: Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members, vendors, and stakeholders, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment. Innovative Thinking: Ability to think creatively, propose innovative solutions, and adapt to evolving technology and industry trends to drive continuous improvement. Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree or HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. Experience and knowledge over qualifications are always considered. Additional certifications or training in manual machining processes and equipment operation are advantageous. Leadership Abilities: Demonstrated leadership skills to inspire and guide a team, drive departmental growth, and lead initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and productivity.
